Experienced Windows users are accustomed to the fact that there is a Startup folder in the Start menu of the computer. Files or shortcuts added to this folder will automatically start with the operating system.
For some reason, this very convenient tool was not included in the Start menu of Windows 8 and Windows 10. However, it is still present in all versions of this OS. How to open the Startup folder in Windows 8 and Windows 10 will be discussed in this article.
Folder "Autoload" in new versions of Windows, it is located in the system partition (usually it is drive C) and is located along the path:
Users ⇒ Folder of a specific user ⇒ AppData ⇒ Roaming ⇒ Microsoft ⇒ Windows ⇒ Main menu ⇒ Programs ⇒ Startup
The AppData section is hidden by default. Therefore get into the folder "Autoload" You can use one of the following methods:
1. Activate the display of hidden files and folders, and then go along the path above;
2. On the keyboard, press the WinR key combination, in the window that opens, insert shell: startup and press Enter.
If you often use the folder "Autoload", it makes sense to place a shortcut for it on your desktop or in another easily accessible place.
Read how to create a shortcut here.
The Windows operating system can be configured in such a way that, when the computer is turned on, the user-selected programs or files are automatically launched. Using this opportunity, you can adapt the computer to your needs as much as possible and significantly save time due to the lack of the need for “manual” launch of programs.
To add programs and files to Windows startup, there is a special folder called “Startup”. Any files in it are automatically opened by the computer immediately after the start of the operating system.
After installing on a computer, many programs are independently added to Windows startup, without “asking” user permission. Even if they are used very rarely, they constantly “hang” in the tray, taking up space in RAM, slowing down the computer’s boot process and negatively affecting its speed.

In addition to useful programs, adware, spyware and other malicious add-ons can be added to startup.
You can fight this phenomenon by analyzing the Windows startup list and removing unnecessary programs from it.
Word autosave is a very useful feature. Especially if you often have to work with text, and the computer is connected to the mains directly, without an uninterruptible power supply. Personally, it saved me many times.
By default, Word automatically saves open documents every 10 minutes in a folder "C: \ Users \ Current_User \ Folder \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Word \". If the computer suddenly shuts down, the next time you open Word, the user will be asked to open the saved copies, or delete them if they are not needed.
The above parameters can be changed by making the computer autosave to any other folder, as well as increasing or decreasing its frequency. I find it difficult to come up with an example when this may be needed, but Word autosave can be turned off altogether if you wish.
Almost all programs (including computer games) are distributed in a compressed (packed) form. For normal operation, they need to be unpacked and correctly placed on the hard drive. The process of unpacking and placement is called installation or installation.
How to install the program on a computer will be discussed in the article below.
On a computer running Windows, by default, all programs are installed in the same folder located on the system drive. This is usually a folder "Program files" or "Program Files (x86)"located on drive C.
To install the program in another section, it is necessary during its installation "manually" choose the appropriate path.
At the same time, in the Windows settings, the default installation folder can be changed by forcing the computer to install programs not in the partition "Program files", and to any other place.
In Windows 10, in addition to Internet Explorer, the new Microsoft Edge browser is included. It is quite convenient to use and has several advantages.
However, it lacks some features that have already become mandatory for browsers. In particular, it is not possible to change the download folder in the Microsoft Edge settings. All files downloaded through this browser fall exclusively into the standard Windows Downloads folder and nothing can be done about it.
But there is still a way to partially solve the problem.
