What Bones Can Be Given To Dogs

Many owners believe that the lack of solid food in the diet of pets can be compensated for the bones – chicken, beef, pork. In addition, it is a great way to take a pet for a long time fussing with this product. But, giving the dog a treat, the owners are unaware of the degree of harm that the bones can do to the health of the pet.

Bones of birds: danger and benefit

Sadly, but we feed our pets what we ourselves cannot eat. Many owners do not take into account the fact that fragments of bones, getting into the stomach and intestines of a dog, can severely damage the internal organs, which is fraught with serious problems in the health of the pet. They can even end with surgery. Tubular chicken bones are the most dangerous for four-legged friends.

The first and main danger can be the feeding of pets with bone formations of a goose and chicken, turkey or another bird. They are quite easy to break and crumble under the teeth of a dog on small thin and sharp as a sewing needle plate. Such food, entering the body, can cause injury to the mucous membrane and provoke perforation of the stomach or intestines. In case of intestinal perforation, an animal can only be saved by surgical intervention, which involves the removal of the damaged part of the organ.

Dog eating bones, especially tubular, can be poisoned by bacteria and pathogens accumulated in this product. Such food leads to damage to the enamel of the teeth or damage to the mouth. Bones often provoke digestive problems. The result of their consumption are indigestion and difficulty in bowel movement (constipation). A bone stuck in the stomach causes abundant vomiting, and poorly chewed plates that have got into the throat cause suffocation. As you can see, the danger when eating this product lurks pets at every step. That is why it is worth refusing from such nutrition and replacing it with, for example, broth cooked on bones.

About pig bones in the diet of dogs

And such a product should not be fed to pets. The consumption of raw bones, on which there is always the remains of meat, is fraught with infection of the dog with worms. Boiled bones are hard digested and absorbed by the body of dogs. In fact, this is dust. They accumulate in the stomach of pets in a tight rammed lump, creating a tube that prevents normal bowel movement. As a result – constipation, which can be eliminated using an enema. In severe cases, only surgery can help: the surgeon cuts the intestines and removes a lump from the processed bones from it. Then a difficult recovery period with injections and droppers awaits the home friend.

Often, the owners are very sorry to throw away the remnants of the piglet baked in the oven, and so they feed them to the dogs. But food from the festive table of a person is a poison for a pet. It is better to arrange a holiday for a dog by buying high-quality food.
