How to Transfer Backup to a New iPhone

Put the old smartphone next to the new one, and in a few minutes everything will be ready.

Step 1. Save the data

You can back up information using iCloud or using iTunes on your computer. Later, the corresponding copy will be used for data transfer.

  1. Open the "Settings" on the iPhone and click on the icon of your account.
  2. Go to iCloud → Backup.

  1. Install the latest version of iTunes and cable connect your iPhone to your computer.
  2. Allow access on the smartphone.
  3. Select iPhone from the iTunes device menu.
  4. If you want to save the data of the Health and Activity programs, check the box “Encrypt backup” and set a password. Do not forget the code, otherwise it will be impossible to restore the information!
  5. Click “Create a copy now” and wait for the process to complete.

Step 2. Untie the Apple Watch

If a watch is connected to the iPhone, then to bind to a new smartphone, you first need to break the pair with the old one.

  1. Open the Apple Watch app.
  2. Go to the “My watch” tab and click on the ℹ️ icon.
  3. Select “Break the pair with the Apple Watch” and confirm the action.

Step 3. Transfer information

  1. If the new iPhone is already activated, first delete all the data by going to “Settings” → “General” → “Reset” → “Erase content and settings”. If not, insert the SIM card into your smartphone and follow the prompts of the setup wizard.
  2. Turn on and put both iPhone side by side. The “Quick Start” screen appears on the new device, and “Set up a new iPhone” on the old one.
  3. Click Continue on your old smartphone and unlock it.
  4. Wait for the animation to appear on the new iPhone and point the old camera at it.
  5. Wait a few seconds and complete the setup on the new device.
  6. Enter your Apple ID password and follow the prompts.
  7. On the Programs and Data screen, select Recover from iCloud.

2. Restore from iCloud copy

  3. Log in to your Apple ID account.
