Friends, in a recent publication that focused on fans of Minecraft, I once again drew attention to the fact that network security. this is our everything. After all, no one wants a bad guy to gain access to your personal electronic wallet, or, for example, encrypt all files on a computer.
Of course, we all use modern anti-virus solutions, but sometimes we ourselves give attackers an extra reason to visit us without an invitation. I mean now "forwarding" ports for the needs of various online games and other network applications.
So it’s time to talk about how check open ports computer through the command line. And believe me, it is very simple. Even a first grader can handle this. &# 128521;
All further actions will be shown on the example of Windows 10, although in other versions of this OS everything happens the same way. So let’s get started "conjure". To do this, first click the right mouse button on the button "Start" and open the command line.
In it, we introduce a simple command of the following form:
- netstat. aon | more
After that, the scanning process will start. Naturally, here you need to wait a bit, so you need to have patience or tea. &# 128521; And now, in the figure below, open ports are shown in a yellow frame. As you can see, in the graph "condition" they are marked as "LISTENING" (i.e., listening).
If instead of this value there will be an inscription "ESTABLISHED", it means that at this time the connection is established and data is being transferred between two network nodes. This is how it looks.
Look, the second and third columns show the IP addresses of these nodes. In my case, there is no danger, since the address "127.0.0.1" refers to the same local computer. That is, everything happens within the home computer, there is no external threat.
Values of the type may also be present in the general list. "CLOSE_WAIT" (waiting to close the connection) and "TIME_WAIT" (exceeding the response time). Attention to the screenshot below.
Ok, so we found out which ports are open, but what to do next with this economy? In fact, everything is simple. Consider the situation with a real example. Let’s say we want to know which program the port is open "1688" (it is highlighted in the figure above).
To do this, copy the value from the last column, which is called "PID". In our case, this is a figure "9184". Now you should open the Windows task manager by pressing the keys "CtrlAltDel"and then go to the tab "Details".
Further in the column "Process id" you can easily find the value we need and understand what kind of application it uses. By clicking, for example, with the right mouse button on the name of the involved process, it will be possible to read about it on the Internet or immediately go to the folder where its executive files are located.
On this, the story about how to check open computer ports through the command line of Windows 10 and 7 versions came to an end. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments to the publication.
And soon, I will show you another specialized program for these purposes, which is designed to further automate the process of determining active network connections. That’s all for now and let’s watch an interesting video.
