Why doesn’t the screen go blank on the phone when brought to my ear? In this article, you will find information on how to enable the screen lock function during a conversation in the Xiaomi settings. If on your Xiaomi smartphone with an incoming or outgoing call, the screen stops turning off and the screen locks when you bring the phone to your ear, then you may have disabled this feature in the Android settings. This could happen quite by accident and you simply did not notice or your children went through the phone settings and turned off the proximity sensor.
In our example, we will show how to turn on the proximity sensor on the Xiaomi Redmi 4X so that when you bring the phone to your ear the screen will lock and go out. Perhaps the information will be suitable for other Android smartphones and tablets.
To automatically lock the screen on Android when you bring it to your ear, you need to do the following. Open the icon on Xiaomi "telephone" and get to where we usually dial the number to call. Next, click on the touch button "menu" in the form of three horizontal stripes. (On some Androids after opening "telephone" "menu" can also be opened with a touch button in the form of three stripes located under the screen on the left side. You need to press and hold this button to get the menu.) See below the attached pictures, where the necessary icons and buttons are highlighted.
Next, in the menu window that opens on Xiaomi, select the item "Incoming calls" under which there will be a short description of the possible settings (additional settings for the device’s behavior for incoming calls).
In settings "Incoming calls" on Hiaomi find and select "Proximity sensor" under which it will be written (turn off the screen automatically when you bring the phone to your ear during a conversation) and turn it on. Done, now when you bring the phone to your ear, the screen will turn off and lock, thereby preventing accidental taps and touching the touch screen.
