I got into the hands of Honor 10 with a broken glass display module. The blow came exactly at the top of the display, forcing the proximity sensor to work constantly, making it difficult to unlock the device (protection against accidental clicks from the box).
We will solve the problem in a standard way. a complete replacement of a sandwich from the screen and touch glass. All nishtyaki used in the repair process (including the display itself), were bought in their native Aceum Below I will attach a video of the whole process. Go.
Honor 10 is a typical representative of the flagships of recent years: glass on both sides, and in order to access the internal components of the smartphone, you need to peel off the back cover, tightly fixed to double-sided tape around the perimeter.
To facilitate the dismantling process, we will heat up the back of the phone on a thermal mat to 99 ° C (a couple of minutes will be enough).
Using a regular razor’s blade, carefully insert it into the joint between the metal frame and the glass panel, working very carefully. the textured and shiny film under the glass does not tolerate sudden movements and scratches and can be damaged, ruining the appearance of the iridescent smartphone.
Having created a gap with a razor, we change it to a regular film or a thin plastic card, with which we separate the glass from the case, without the risk of damage to the color substrate and the internal components of the device. If necessary, the film or card can be additionally moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, which will make the adhesive tape more pliable.
Done! The lid is peeled off, under it is an insulating film, which in the process of parsing will become unusable and not subject to re-sticker. You can get rid of it.
We remove the remnants of tape from the back cover and the body of the device, since in the future we will apply double-sided tape to re-fix the parts.
Before dismantling the defective part, the prepared replacement should be checked beforehand. The design of the phone involves the ability to check the display module without a full analysis. To do this, unscrew the 3 screws that secure the metal screen that covers the connection connectors we need.
When we got access to the cable connectors, the first thing we do is turn off the battery. this way we will protect ourselves from possible complications and unnecessary accidents.
To the left of the battery connection point is the display module connector, which is what we need. Disconnect it too. We prepare a spare part for the dough.
Various suppliers offer parts that are different from each other. in this case, the cable to the sensor is not fixed to the main one, and there is also no fingerprint scanner. Alas, it is not possible to transfer the scanner from a broken display module, the factory process of installing and installing the scanner (special glue, extremely fragile surface of the scanner itself) cannot be repeated in the workshop, and even more so at home.

We connect the touchscreen ribbon cable to the corresponding connector, bending it under the base.
The spare part is ready for connection to the main board of the device and verification.
We snap the module connector on the system board, followed by the battery and turn on the phone. we check the image quality, brightness, viewing angles. We are convinced of the absence of graphic distortions, highlights, uneven backlighting.
Sensor verification is carried out in two ways:
1. By activating all the controls of the program shell (curtains, buttons, icons, brightness sliders and side control gestures, if any) and dragging the icon of any application on the desktop over the entire area;
2. By turning on the special touch screen display mode:
- Settings app
- Item “About phone / About device”
- Repeatedly clicking on the line “Build number”, until a message appears on the inclusion of developer mode
- Go back to the main settings screen.
- Scroll down and find the appeared item “For Developers”, go to it (on various devices this menu item can be hidden in “Accessibility”, “Advanced Settings”, “System Settings”, etc.)
- Turn on the item “For Developers” and look at the “Input” section below.
- “Display touches” and voila. a finger follows a coordinate grid that leaves a touch line, allowing you to fully check the touchscreen for serviceability and eliminate false and phantom clicks.
The spare part to be installed is in perfect order. However, to dismantle the broken one, you will have to completely disassemble the lower part of the device, since there is a sub-board under the plastic speaker pad with the fingerprint scanner connected to it.
We turn off the screws, remove the assembled speaker to the side and get access to the connectors of the additional board. Connected here: a mainboard cable, an antenna cable and the scanner we need. Disconnect all of the listed components.
We carefully lift the subboard itself with tweezers, prying it under the connector for connecting the circuit board (under it is a strip of double-sided tape that holds the board in place).
Everything is ready for peeling off the broken display. We place the gadget “face down” on a mat heated to 99 ° C for a period of 2-3 minutes.
Using a suction cup and a plastic spatula, we can easily peel off a glass sandwich from the body frame. Avoid fragments, if necessary, use gloves or glue the surface of broken glass with stationery tape to avoid further formation of cracks and glass chips.
Do not forget to transfer the speaker grill from the damaged one to a new spare part, having previously cleaned its surface from debris and small crumbs.
Before applying the adhesive, we clean the frame from the remaining tape, dirt and glass fragments. In addition, we pass with a soft brush and degrease the surface with a lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.
We apply glue (in this case B7000) around the entire perimeter, in a uniform thin layer and let it dry for 5-10 minutes. This will help ensure minimal adhesion for reassembling the apparatus before final fixation.
We are preparing the replacement part for gluing. we remove the transportation and protective films, fix and isolate the touchscreen loop with a strip of kapton tape. At the same time, we are guided by a special dotted pattern on the surface of the display loop, which allows us to do this as evenly as possible.
We screw the main loop of the module into a special hole in the case and paste the spare part. Excess adhesive glue can be easily removed after drying, rolling them with a cloth or even fingers.
We assemble the device in the reverse order. We apply strips of acrylic double-sided tape around the perimeter of the back of the device, cut off the excess and install the back cover. Make sure that the inside of the camera windows is clean, otherwise the quality of photos may deteriorate due to dust or accidental dirt.
After installing the lid, we fix the “cured” Honor 10 with clothespins and leave to dry until the glue is completely fixed (from 12 to 24 hours).
The whole process, but only on video and with a minimum of comments:
