The new iPhone X, which is also sometimes mistakenly called the iPhone 10, has brought quite a few changes compared to previous models. In particular, in the iPhone X the Home button disappeared and the screen configuration changed. These solutions allowed to save a large amount of space for placing a screen with a larger diagonal, but on the other hand, this led to significant changes in the principles of controlling a smartphone.
For example, the refusal to use the Home button led to the fact that for the functions that used it, I had to look for other buttons. So, Siri voice assistant is now launched not using the Home button, but using the power button. And there are a lot of similar changes in the iPhone X, which creates a lot of inconvenience to users.
One of the problems is restarting the smartphone. Many users do not understand how to restart the iPhone X, because the old methods of rebooting simply do not work in this model of smartphone.
Normal reboot of iPhone X
If you need to restart the iPhone X, then this is best done by turning off and then turning on the device. In this case, the reboot is performed as naturally as possible and will certainly not create any additional problems. Of course, if the smartphone is completely frozen, then this method will not work and you need to use a forced reboot, but this does not happen so often.
So, to restart the iPhone X, you must simultaneously press the power button (right) and the volume down button (left). After that, these buttons must be kept pressed until a proposal appears to turn off the iPhone.
Then you need to turn off the iPhone X by moving the power button to the right.
After turning off, you need to wait a few seconds and turn on the smartphone again using the power button, which is located on the right side of the device. Thus, you will perform the most secure reboot of the iPhone X.
Most likely, this method will work on the new iPhone XR and iPhone XS.
Force reboot iPhone X
If your iPhone X freezes, then you most likely will not be able to restart it by turning it off and on. For such cases, the iPhone provides a forced reboot. On iPhone X, this is done as follows:

- Press and quickly release the volume up button.
- Press and quickly release the volume down button.
- Press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.
It should be noted that this method of forced rebooting is relevant only for iPhone X, since in other iPhone models this is done differently. You can read more about this in our article on rebooting the iPhone.
Alternative ways to restart iPhone X
In addition, there are some alternative ways to restart iPhone X. You can use them if the options described above for some reason do not suit you.
For example, you can turn off the iPhone X through the settings. To do this, simply open the Settings application and scroll through the list of options to the very end. There you will see the “Turn off” button, which you can use to turn off the device.
Also, iPhone 10 can be turned off using the “AssistiveTouch” function. To do this, go to the settings, open the section “General. Universal Access” and turn on the “AssistiveTouch” function.
After that, a floating button will appear on the screen of your iPhone X, which you can use to perform some operations. In order to turn off the device, you need to click on this button and select the “Device” section.
Next, you need to press the “Screen Lock” button and hold it pressed until the power button appears on the screen.
You can also start the reboot by changing some settings. For example, if you go to the settings section “Basic. Universal Access” and enable the “Bold Font” function there, a warning message about rebooting the device will appear on the screen. Click “OK” and the iPhone rebooted.
Another option is to reset the network settings. If you go to “Basic. Reset” and use the option “Reset Network Settings” and activate the function “Reset Network Settings”, then the iPhone will reboot automatically.
As a last resort, you can restart the iPhone X by discharging its battery to zero and putting it on charge. After it is recharged a little it will turn on automatically.
